Film Screening: The Glassworker
A beautiful and touching film about young Vincent and his father Tomas, who runs the finest glass workshop in the country. They find their lives turned upside down by an impending war that they want no part of.
When an army colonel and his young, talented violinist daughter Alliz arrive in their town, it shakes their reality and tests the relationship between father and son. The love that develops between Vincent and Alliz is constantly challenged by their fathers' opposing views.
It's a time when patriotism and social status are considered more important than free thought and artistic pursuits, and the two must find the courage to confront their fathers.
Ten years ago, musician Usman Riaz drew the sketch that would become the starting point for Pakistan's first hand-drawn animation film. Heavily inspired by Japanese Studio Ghibli, The Glassworker is an anti-war film set in an ambiguous and fantastical world inspired by Pakistan.
