A raw and magical journey into the life of iconic artist Frida Kahlo told in her own words from diaries, letters, essays and interviews brought to life with poetic animation inspired by her unforgettable artworks. The documentary shows the extent to which an entire life's work can tell a complete story of the iconic painter.

Using her own charismatic face in many of her symbol-saturated works, the film depicts the most pivotal and formative moments in Frida's life. The animations and sound design support the complexity of Kahlo's psyche, giving an intimate insight into her vast and shifting senses of human desire, the state of the world in the 20th century and her own art.

Carla Gutiérrez is known as an exceptionally skilled editor, and in her first film as director, she brings together years of experience in the art of storytelling with images.
